LANGTANG VALLEY TREK OVERVIEW

Langtang Valley Trek, an exciting and scenic adventure of a week suitable for all types of people and age-groups. Exceptional scenery throughout the adventure on Langtang Valley Trek. Trekkers can enjoy the scenic walks following the moderate trail through beautiful forest, lined with tall rhododendrons and pine trees.
Langtang Valley Trek takes you within Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park established in 1976. The adventure takes you through a lovely serene green environment and traditional Tamang villages. Trekkers can experience the age-old culture of ancient Buddhist Heritage as the route leads from one village to another.
Langtang Himalayan region is located around the Central Himalaya, straddles the borders between Nepal and Tibet, China. Langtang National Park is famous for exotic flora and fauna, the country of endangered wildlife including the rare Red Panda.
Langtang Valley Trek begins from the exciting Syabrubesi town of Rasuwa district, the home to indigenous Tamang mountain tribe. The walk follows with climb through farm terraces and lovely tranquil woods following the Langtang River upstream. The walk progresses then the river gorge opens into a wide picturesque Langtang Valley. As you reach the final destination at Kyanjin Gompa, the highest point of the trek for an overnight halt.
Kyanjin Gompa, situated within the heart of scenic Langtang Valley enclosed within amphitheaters of giant snow peaks. Enjoy the rest and free day at Kyanjin Gompa to explore its scenic view-points. A day hike of a few hours takes you to the top of Kyanjin-Ri 4,733 m/ 15, 655 feet.
Energetic people can hike to Tserko RI located at 4,984 m/16,352 feet high.
Both these high ridges of Kyanjin and Tserko-RI offer breathtaking views of surrounding mountain ranges. Includes views of some peaks in Tibet across the border.
Enjoying delightful moments at Kyanjin Gompa and Langtang Valley, the return journey leads you back to Syabrubesi. Enjoy the last overnight around Langtang Himal ranges, before heading to Kathmandu. After a wonderful experience on Langtang Valley Trek.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to a hotel
On arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal Intenational Airport, after visa formalities, and claiming the baggage. Outside the exit terminal our staff and guide receives you for a short transfer to the hotel. After getting refreshed at the hotel, then join with other members of Langtang Valley Trek for a briefing.
Briefing is done by our guide, group leader with full information of the treks, including hotels in Kathmandu. Local cultures with do’s and don’ts.
In the evening a lovely dinner and introduction to Nepali foods and culture.
Day 2: Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites of great interest
Moning after breakfast, our city guide takes you on a tour around thenworld heritage sites within Kathmandu city. After an exciting and interesting tour back to the hotel, preparation and packing for trekking.
Non-essential clothing and items not required for treks, can be stored in the Hotel or with Kirat Society Adventure.
Day 3: Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460 m - 06 hrs
The drive to Syabrubesi, begins early moning after breakfast for a long jouney of about six hours or more. Depending upon the road condition, as well there are two routes to Trisuli Bazaar en-route to Dhunche town and Syabrubesi.
Taking the shortest way, the drive leads beyond Kathmandu valley towards a small town of Galchi. From here across the bridge, and then on a good road following the Trisuli upstream to warmer areas of Trisuli Bazaar.
The main town of Nuwakott district, the jouney continues along the winding uphill to enter Rasuwa district and Langtang range. The air gets cooler as the drive leads to Dhunche. The headquarters town of Rasuwa and Langtang region, it is also the entrance to Langtang National Park. From Dhunche on the winding zig-zag downhill to Syabrubesi, once a small farm village. At present it has tuned into a small town. Check in for the ovenight in the comfort of a nice lodge or guest house.
Day 4: Trek to Lama Hotel 2,380 m -6 hrs
Moning after breakfast, the walk begins towards Kyanjin Gompa around Langtang Valley. The route leads across Bhote Koshi River; it flows from Tibetan mountains glaciers. From here climb uphill across farm areas and hamlets to River Side, a place with few small lodges and Tea-House. Stop here for lunch, aftenoon walk with slow climb into dense tree lines. After a few hours of good hike reaching Lama Hotel for an ovenight halt. Situated on a nice clearing, amidst thick forest by the river side, enjoy the comfort of a nice lodge.
Day 5: Trek to Mundu 3,430 m via old Langtang Village-06 hrs
After a pleasant ovenight at Lama Hotel, moning walk heads higher through dense forest. Lined with rhododendron, pine, and firs, includes bamboo thickets. A perfect and ideal habitat for endangered wildlife like the rare Red Panda.
Trekkers, if lucky, can spot a few wildlife, often seen around these areas.
The walk follows higher towards a Ghoretabela for lunch stop or further to Thyangsyap. The aftenoon hike heads higher amidst forest, reaching a place of boulders of rocks and huge stones. This is where Langtang village existed before the huge earthquake of 2015. The village was badly damaged and the loss of many human life including some foreign trekkers. From these former devastated areas, a short walk further to reach our ovenight halt at Mundu. A new settlement after Langtang village disappeared from the earthquakes.
A lovely place, with views of peaks in the distance, from here into mountain wildeness and above the tree lines.
Day 6: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,870 m / 12, 696 feet high-04 hrs
Today a short moning walk to the main destination at Kyanjin Gompa.
Located in the heart of Langtang Valley. Moning from Mundu walk follows towards east, where the gorge opens into a beautiful valley.
A slow short steep climb facing a glorious panorama of giant snow peaks, as you enter the scenic Langtang Valley. After a lovely moning walk of a few hours reaching Kyanjin Gompa, for two ovenights. Enjoy the day, after a good lunch in the lodge restaurant, marveling at the beautiful views of surrounding snow peaks. Explore around the lovely settlement of Kyanjin, the highest ovenight stop of the adventure.
Day 7: At Kyanjin Gompa for a local hike to explore the view-points
In Kyanjin Gompa with a full leisure day and to explore the grand and scenic view points. The best short hike is to climb the top of Kyanjin-Ri at 4,850 m / 15, 912 feet. Rewards with spectacular panorama of the surrounding peaks with close views of Langtang and Jugal Himal ranges.
Trekkers can enjoy a long hike and climb to Tserko-Ri, it takes more than 6 hours both ways. The rest of the day explore Kyanjin and visit the local Gompa / monastery of religious and cultural interest
Day 8: Trek back to Lama Hotel -06 hrs
From Kyanjin after a wonderful moment, enjoy the longest walks of the jouney. Leaving Kyanjin and the scenic Langtang Valley, downhill to Mundu and Ghoretabela and back into tree lines. Following the same exciting route to Lama Hotel for an ovenight stop.
Day 9: Trek to Syabrubesi village -06 hrs
Another long day walk to Syabrubesi, but quite shorter than the previous day.
The trail follows the river downstream for an hour to Riverside. From here walk through smaller farm areas and then downhill to a bridge and back on a pleasant trail to Syabrubesi. Completing the last day of trek, enjoy the final ovenight around the hill village and town of Syabrubesi.
Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel-06 hrs
Moning leaving much early for the long and interesting overland jouney heading uphill to Dhunche town. From here on winding down to reach Trisuli Bazaar, and then on a good road to Kathmandu. After an exciting drive through farm towns and villages, on reaching the city area transfer to your hotels.
Day 11: Free day in Kathmandu for leisure activities
Enjoy the free leisure day for individual activities or with a shopping spree for souvenirs’ of Nepal. Interested people can request for another exciting tour of Patan and Bhaktapur cities, well worth a visit and not to be missed while having time in Kathmandu.
Day 12: International departure for homeward bound
Final day in Kathmandu and Nepal, as time for your intenational flight for homeward bound or next port of call. Transfer to Kathmandu, Nepal intenational airport bidding farewell to the guide and staff, after a marvelous and enjoyable adventure on Langtang Valley trek.
Essential Information
Langtang Valley trek for all seasons, except for the wet months of monsoon; mid-June to August. The best favored seasons are spring and autumn/fall.
The spring starts from March to May when days are longer with enough sunlight hours. Normally the morning till mid-afternoon days are clear for views and scenic walks can get overcast late afternoon sometime. Can expect snowfalls, with cold morning and nighttime, and the mid-hills covered in the forest will be bright with wildflowers; in seasonal bloom. Especially the rhododendron of various colors from tall trees to a bush, which is the national flower of Nepal.
The next high season is autumn/fall, from September to November, most days are fine and crystal clear. One can enjoy pleasant walks along with glorious views of surrounding snow-capped peaks. Days are much shorter due to limited sunlight hours, cold afternoons, and nights till morning time. Expect snow sometimes, but with a bright and clear starry night sky. Trekkers can also enjoy the trek during the winter times of December to February. Most days are clear and sunny, but much shorter days due to limited sunlight hours. Cold freezing temperatures in the morning, evening, and night time, chances of snowfall also.
