LAMJUNG HIMAL BASE CAMP TREK OVERVIEWS

Lamjung Himal Base Camp Trek is more of an exploration rather than normal country walks and trekking. As these regions are unspoiled and undisturbed areas by the main flow of trekkers. Very few trekkers and mountaineers seldom venture to the hidden highland of Lamjung Himal regions.

Lamjung Himal is a unique whale shaped peak at 6,983 meters and 22,910 feet.
Located around Nepal Far North Mid-West in the district of Lamjung of Gandaki Zone. It is the home of famous warriors the Gurung hill tribes, renewed as
Gorkha Soldiers throughout the world.

Lamjung Himal region is unknown to many outside trekkers and adventurers.
Due to its remote locations, it stands between the massive giants Annapurna in the west and Manaslu Himal towards west.

Lamjung Himal first submitted in 1974 by Derrick Chamberlain and Phillip Neame from Britain. Since then, the mountain has been the least climbed due to its technical difficulties to the summit of Lamjung Himal.

An exceptional adventure to Lamjung Himal Base Camp, trekkers will experience varied types of climates and vegetation. As well, its dramatic landscape terrains rise from the low sub-tropical farm areas of Bhesishar town.

Extends towards green cooler hills covered in lovely forest of rhododendrons, oaks and pine trees. The walk leads through lovely scenic villages of Baglung Pani,
Ghan Pokhara, enriched with age-old heritage cultures.

A delightful moment to experience the warm hospitality of the Gurung tribes, as the route passes through nice friendly villages. As the walk progresses leaving the human settlements and villages towards sheer mountain wilderness.

The route enters the highland amidst a lovely forest of pines, oaks and rhododendrons trees. The adventure continues leaving the tree lines behind reaching around the alpine and arctic zones at Lamjung Base Camp.

Lamjung Base Camp stands beneath the staggering giant peaks of Lamjung and Manaslu Himal. Includes close views of Annapurna II, A-III and IV with majestic
Machhapuchare Himal, the famed ‘Fish-Tail’ Peak.

Enjoying the delightful moments at the Lamjung Himal Base Camp, slowly our journey leads to a long descent. The route follows back into dense tree lines with few steep ups and more downhill’s. The views of the snow-capped mountains remain constant throughout the walks, heading back to the hills and farm villages.

The walks slowly come to an end reaching a lovely village at Tanting for last overnight stops. Enjoy the hospitality of the native Gurung people and its traditional heritage cultures. After a wonderful experience around the hills of Lamjung Himal. Our great adventure Lamjung Himal Base Camp Trek concludes with an exciting drive to scenic Pokhara city.  Located on a verdant valley, Pokhara the renowned tourist hub of Nepal, blessed with natural wonders.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,340 m and transfer to a hotel

On arrival at Kathmandu intenational airport, received by HimEX staff and guide. For short transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city around exciting places in the Thamel area or close by. After checking into your rooms for refreshing rest, our guides brief you regarding the treks, camping and local lodges.

Day 2: In Kathmandu with options for tours and trek preparations

Moning after breakfast, depart for a cultural and historical tour around Nepal's best World Heritage Sites. Tour of old Durbar Square (Palace Courtyard).
The famous ancient Syambhunath Stupa, includes places of interest, rest of the day preparations for the treks. Non-essential clothing and items not required for treks, can be stored in the Hotel or with Kirat Society Adventure

Day 3: Drive to Bhesishar 823 m-05 hrs

Moning after breakfast, enjoy the exciting drive from Kathmandu to Bhesishar. The drive leads on the main and busy interesting highway following the Trisuli for a few hours. From the town of Dumre, the drive diverts from the main road heading north to Bhesishar. A big town and the headquarters of Lamjung district ovenight in the best available lodge or hotels. Enjoy the aftenoon exploring the local markets steeped with fascinating cultures of the Gurung hill tribes.

Day 4: Trek to Baglung Pani 1, 524 m -05 hrs

After a pleasant ovenight at Bhesishar around Lamjung area in the comfort ofnna nice lodge. Adventure begins after breakfast, the walk follows throughnnthe market areas. On leaving the town suburb, a steep climb leads throughnnthe cool forested areas. As the climb continues past several rural farm areasnnto reach Baglung-Pani. A small farm village on top of Bhesishar town where ainngets much cooler along with views of snow mountain ranges.nn nnEnjoy the first ovenight in tented camps, lunch is served from our camping

Kitchen. The foods are prepared by the expert cook and kitchen hands, rest of the aftenoon, marvel at the spectacular mountain views.

Includes Annapuna South, Huin Chuli, A-III, IV and II with Lamjung and Manaslu Himal ranges.

Day 5: Trek to Ghan-Pokhara 2,210 m -05 hrs

Enjoying refreshing ovenight stop in tented camping, from Baglung moningnnwalks lead to Ghan Pokhara. From Baglung Pani, walk starts on gradual windingnnuphill path, walking past smaller farm areas to Ghale Gaon. A nice and lovelynnmountain village for possible lunch stop. From here climb leads for short hounnto Ghan Pokhara, ovenight either in a tented camp or the comfort of a lodge.

Ghan Pokhara, is one of the largest Gurung villages around Lamjung district. Aftenoon explore the village, and observe the local traditions of great heritage and cultural interest. Along with the superb views of the snow-capped mountain ranges towards the north.

Day 6: Trek Bhaisi Kharka 2, 850 m - 05 hrs

After a pleasant ovenight stop at Ghan Pokhara, from here the adventure heads beyond human settlement and villages. Walking towards absolute mountain wildeness, the trail follows a cool forested path. The trek leads towards a high Telbrung Danda ridge, the walk continues towards north facing grand views of Lamjung Himal. The route follows the faint path through grazing areas and pasture fields. The vegetation of scrubby, and moss covers the rhododendron forest, then slowly reaches an open wide meadow at Bhaisi Kharka.

From the camp enjoy the superb views of Himal Chuli, Bouddha Himal, Manaslu and Lamjung Himal.

Day 7: Trek to Rambrong Lower Basecamp 3,765 m – 04 hrs

From this nice campsite at Bhaisi Kharka, moning walk follows the vague route,ntramped only by the local shepherds'. The trail leads through dense forest heading to the easten side of the ridge. As the walks continue reaching a clearing of a crest, offers a grand vista of the snow-capped mountains.

Walk follows north-wards, facing the ridge-line of the Telbrung Danda, then walk along the rocky hills. As the adventure leads closer towards Rambrong Danda ridge, the faint path climbs gradually within a forest. Covered in tall old moss fills the rhododendrons interspersed with mixed deciduous trees and smaller bamboos. After a scenic and exciting walk, leaving the tree-lines an hour of gentle climb brings you to Rambrong Low Basecamp. Provides a nice camping site on an open ridge facing views of snow-capped peaks in all directions.

Day 8: Rest day excursion to Telbrung Danda view point

Enjoy a full leisure day around this beautiful scenic surrounding and well hidden from the outside world. Interested people can enjoy a few hours hike with climb to the high viewpoint on top of Telbrung Danda.

A scenic spot and perfect height for acclimatization the scenic view point ridge is at about 4,100 meters. Enjoy grand views of Manaslu mountain range from this accessible high view point, before retuning to Rambrong Low Basecamp.

Day 9: Trek to Rambrong / Lamjung Himal Base camp 3, 850 m -04 hrs

Today’s walk leads towards the highest spot at Rambrong West Summit which is above 4,500 m high. Today the shortest trek of the jouney to reach Rambrong and Lamjung Himal Basecamp for ovenight stop.

The moning walk follows on a rocky faint path towards the deep valley, situated west from Telbrung Danda ridge. Finally, the moning ends reaching Rambrong and Lamjung Himal Base Camp for hot lunch and ovenight camp.

The campsite offers a stunning panorama of Annapuna massive mountain ranges. Includes views of Lamjung and Manaslu Himal at a mere distance, a lovely spot for short hikes. Enjoy exploring around these scenic and pristine areas, undisturbed by the mass flow of trekkers

Day 10: Trek to Haju Dobato 3, 420 m. -06 hrs

After an enjoyable and exciting time at the base of Lamjung Himal and Rambrong ridge. Leaving the sheer mountain wildeness, the retun jouney leads towards lush green mixed forest of rhododendron, barberries, bamboo and juniper.

The trail follows beyond the grazing field to reach Bheda Kharka, the route leads to a short steep climb. Covered in dense tree lines, the climb continues facing grand views of Machhapuchare Himal/Fish Tail and Annapuna range.
Slowly walks come to the end of the day reaching Haju Dobato, a quiet and serene area for ovenight camp.

Day 11: Trek to Deurali 3, 040 m-06 hrs

Moning walk follows on the scenic ridge of the Karpu Danda, a great walk with slow climb on an undulating ridge. From the top heading through thick rhododendron tree lines, then reaching an open grazing field. The path follows downhill to a junction near Karpu Danda. Our route follows a grand vista of fantastic scenery of mountains and rolling green hills. Then finally the day completes on reaching Deurali, a nice spot amidst forest for ovenight camp.

Day 12: Trek to Tanting 1, 650 m - 05 hrs

After a good breakfast walk leads back to farm villages. Moning starts leaving the Karpu Danda and then descends through forest to Tanting. After a short walk along the ridge, the trail follows a long descent west towards the valley of Mardi Khola/stream. The upper slopes of the valley are covered in dense forest, the route winds towards downhill. Then reaching a few stone paved steps, after hours of descent walk across terraced farmland.

Located high above the valley floor, the walk continues with more descent reaching a nice Gurung village at Tanting. At Tanting enjoy the last ovenight in tented camping with time to explore the traditional mountain village.

Day 13: Trek and drive to Pokhara

Our last day of the fabulous adventure around easten Annapuna and Lamjung Himal region. Moning a short hike downhill to Tanting Besi situated neanMardi Khola. On reaching the motorable dirt road, enjoy an exciting drive of a few hours to Pokhara. The hotels in Pokhara are located by the serene Phewa Lake side. Pokhara is a renowned tourist destination in Nepal and probably in Asia.

A place full of charm and beauty located on the laps of Annapuna Himalaya that reflects on its calm Phewa and Begnas Lakes.nn
Ovenight in the comfort of a nice hotel with exciting meals around the lakeside restaurants of intenational standard. Have ample time to explore around the lovely Phewa Lake sides.

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels

Moning transfer to Pokhara airport, for a smooth short flight to Kathmandu.
After a great adventure and wonderful experience on Lamjung Himal Base Camp Trekking. Rest of the day at leisure for individual activities and shopping souvenirs or join in for a short tour around places of great interest.

Day 15: In Kathmandu free day, for individual activities with options for tours

A free day in Kathmandu to enjoy relaxing moments and for individual activities,nnshopping spree. Interested people can opt for another exciting tour of Patan and Bhaktapur cities on request.

Day 16: International departure for homeward bound

Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, after an overwhelming adventure and experience. Around the high hills and valleys of Mid-West Nepal aroundnthe Lamjung Himal. As time for the intenational flight, transfer to the airport. Then bidding farewell to Nepal, guide and staff; as you enter the air terminal for homeward bound or to the next port of call.

Essential Information

The best favored seasons are spring and autumn/fall.

The spring starts from March to May when days are longer with enough sunlight hours. Normally the morning till mid-afternoon days are clear for views and scenic walks can get overcast late afternoon sometime. Can expect snowfalls, with cold morning and nighttime, and the mid-hills covered in the forest will be bright with wildflowers; in seasonal bloom. Especially the rhododendron of various colors from tall trees to a bush, which is the national flower of Nepal.

 

The next high season is autumn/fall, from September to November, most days are fine and crystal clear. One can enjoy pleasant walks along with glorious views of surrounding snow-capped peaks. Days are much shorter due to limited sunlight hours, cold afternoons, and nights till morning time. Expect snow sometimes, but with a bright and clear starry night sky. Trekkers can also enjoy the trek during the winter times of December to February. Most days are clear and sunny, but much shorter days due to limited sunlight hours. Cold freezing temperatures in the morning, evening, and night time, chances of snowfall also.
