Lake Rara and Mugu Trek, a short and scenic country walks, around the wild-west of Nepal Himalayas. A moderate adventure for all types of people and age-groups without the problem of catching HAS (High Altitude Sickness).
The journey to Rara Lake leads around the country’s smallest national parks enriched with exotic flora and fauna. A pleasant and most rewarding trek in all the Himalayas, it is a picturesque location to Nepal’s largest Rara Lake.
This scenic lake covers 10.8 km at the height of 2,990 meters, outlined by lush green forest. Covered in pines, fir, maple, spruce and oak trees, makes an ideal habitat for mountain wildlife and various bird species.
Lake Rara and Mugu Trek, begins with a sweeping panoramic flight from Kathmandu via Nepalgunj city. To land at a small mountain airstrip at Talcha, a traditional farm village around Mugu district.
The journey leads you to the highest spot at Murmur Hilltop, facing overwhelming scenery of the fabulous landscapes. Overlooking tiers of rolling green hills with snow mountain ranges that reflect on the serene Rara Lake surface.
From Murmur towards our ultimate destination to Lake Rara, with ample time to explore its beautiful surroundings of Rara Lake. Enjoyable and glorious moments within tranquil ambiance, marveling at the magnificent scenery of Rara Lake around Mugu district. Return journey to Talcha airport for a breathtaking flight back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj. After a great wonderful experience on Lake Rara and Mugu Trek around far west Nepal.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to a hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal Intenational Airport, after visa formalities, and claiming the baggage. Outside the exit terminal our staff and guide receives you for a short transfer to the hotel. After getting refreshed at the hotel, then join with other members of Lake Rara and Mugu Trek for a briefing.
Briefing is done by our guide, group leader with full information of the treks, including hotels in Kathmandu. Local cultures with do’s and don’ts.
In the evening a lovely dinner and introduction to Nepali foods and culture.
2: Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites of great interest.
Day3: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj & transfer to a Hotel.
As time for Nepalgunj, transfer to the domestic airport for a less than an hour scenic flight to Nepalgunj. At Nepalgunj, ample time to explore the westen Terai city of Nepalgunj. The people of southen Nepal have strong Indian influence and cultures due to the border close to India.
Day4: Fly to Talcha 2,260 m for overnight stop.
Moning transfer to Nepalgunj airport for short connecting flights to Talcha airstrip. Located outskirts of Rara National Park, a scenic flight, with grand views of the API and Shaipal peaks. The small aircraft then lands at Talcha small airstrip transfer to the lodges of simple accommodation. Have time to explore the market areas of Talcha town and observe the interesting cultures of Nepal Far West people.
Day5: Trek to Murma Hill Top 3,780 m- 05 hrs.
After ovenight at Talcha, moning begins with gradual walks for some time.
The country's small path leads through Talcha bazaar areas, after a few hours of good hikes. Climb up to a high ridge covered within lovely cool forest to Murma, standing on a scenic hill top. The highest spot of the jouney at 3,780 m, offers a grand vista of the Mugu country’s landscapes with Rara Lake. At Murma Hilltop transfer into the best lodge available and enjoy the fabulous scenery of the high snow-capped peak ranges.
Day6: Trek to Rara Lake 2,990 m - 04 hrs.
After breakfast walks leads towards our main highlight of the adventure atnscenic Rara Lake. A slow downhill through lovely coniferous forest to reach at
Rara Lake shore line. Where lodges and resorts are located for the comfort of the visitors. The rest of the aftenoon at leisure marveling at the glorious surrounding scenery with a short hikes.
Day7: Morning at Rara Lake, enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
A free day to enjoy the panorama of beautiful landscapes and snow-capped peaks with rolling green hills. In the harmony of tranquil surroundings, a great spot to enjoy leisure moment and to explore its scenic areas.nn nnA few foreign visitors seldom visit this beautiful spot due to its remote locations. Enjoy the day with a leisure walk and climb to the observation tower for superb views of Lake Rara. Including the surrounding beautiful forest and green hills with snow mountain ranges.
Day8: Trek back to Talcha-06 hrs.
After an enjoyable time at Rara Lake, the retun jouney leads on the lower trail.
Walking with short steep ups and down into dense forest past farm villages.
After a pleasant hike, to Talcha via near Gamgadhi Town.
Ovenight in a nice simple lodge before heading back to Kathmandu
Day9: Fly to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj and transfer to a hotel.
Moning walk to small Talcha Airport, as time for flight to Nepalgunj, bid farewell to the local staff. As the small aircraft reach Talcha airstrip parking.
Then get on board in a small aircraft for a short scenic flight to Nepalgunj facing views of Westen Himalaya range of peaks. From Nepalgunj airport connecting flights to Kathmandu on a bigger plane for an exciting flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu airport, transfer to your hotel.
Day10: Free day in Kathmandu for leisure activities.
Enjoy the free leisure day for individual activities or with a shopping spree for souvenirs’ of Nepal. Interested people can request for another exciting tour of Patan and Bhaktapur cities, well worth a visit and not to be missed while having time in Kathmandu.
Day11: International departure for homeward bound.
Final day in Kathmandu and Nepal, as time for your intenational flight for homeward bound or next port of call. Transfer to Kathmandu, Nepal intenational airport bidding farewell to the guide and staff, after a marvelous and enjoyable short adventure to Lake Rara and Mugu trek.
