Ghorepani and Poon Hill with Koke Danda Trek, a short moderate adventure of less than a week. An ideal and perfect country walks for all types of travelers and age-groups. Takes you around the high scenic view-points facing alluring panorama of the massive Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayas.

An enjoyable and exciting trek in the close shadows of Annapurna towering peaks, in the harmony of pristine surroundings. Ghorepani and Poon Hill with Koke Danda Trek, begins from the scenic Pokhara.
A renowned city and famous tourist destination for internal and international travelers.

Where most of the adventure around Annapurna Himalayas begins and ends at Pokhara. The journey follows through lovely farm villages and towns heading up to cooler hills. The trek starts from Ulleri Village heading towards
off-the-beaten trails to Kokhe Danda, around the less frequented region.

Enjoy the awesome close views of the Annapurna Himalayan ranges with majestic
Machhapuchare Himal. The famous unconquered Fish-Tail peak around the Himalayan ranges. After a great moment at photogenic Kokhe Danda, the highest point of the adventures. The next part of the adventure takes you on the mainstream route to Ghorepani Village. Located on a high ridge amidst beautiful dense rhododendrons, oaks and pine trees, beneath the scenic Poon Hill.

The next morning hike towards our ultimate destination to Poon Hill for stunning sunrise over an array of Himalayan Mountains. Includes unparalleled 360 ° panorama with the world’s three highest peaks. Namely the 7th Mt. Dhaulagiri, the 8th Mt. Manaslu and 10th Mt. Annapurna and its massive ranges.

After a pleasant and most exciting experience on top of Poon Hill with exceptional views of the staggering Mid-West Himalayas. The walk continues uphill through lovely cool forest to Ghandruk, a large Gurung Village adorned with traditional culture. From Ghandruk our wonderful short adventure completes with an interesting drive to scenic Pokhara.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to a hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal Intenational Airport, after visa formalities, and claiming the baggage. Outside the exit terminal our staff and guide receives you for a short transfer to the hotel. After getting refreshed at the hotel, then join with other members of Ghorepani and Poon Hill with Kokhe Danda Trek for a briefing.

Briefing is done by our guide, group leader with full information of the treks, including hotels in Kathmandu. Local cultures with do’s and don’ts.
In the evening a lovely dinner and introduction to Nepali foods and culture.

Day 2: Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites of great interest.

Moning after breakfast, our city guide takes you on a tour around thenworld heritage sites within Kathmandu city. After an exciting and interesting tour back to the hotel, preparation and packing for trekking.

Non-essential clothing and items not required for treks, can be stored in the Hotel or with Kirat Society Adventure.

Day 3: Fly to Pokhara 860 m and drive to Ulleri Village 2,070 m - 04 hrs.

Moning as time for the flight to Pokhara, transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport. After going through security, get on board in a big aircraft for a sweeping panoramic flight of 30 minutes. Enjoy the grand views of majesticnHimalayas from Langtang, Ganesh and Manaslu Himal to Annapuna range.

Landing at Pokhara airport, a few hours of exciting and scenic drive beyond the city and valley of Pokhara. Heading west to low warm farm country, and then driving leads towards cooler hills at Hille. A small lovely farm village, the drive leads to winding ups through Thirkhedhunga village with beautiful waterfalls.
From the bridge, the road climbs uphill for a short hour to Ulleri village, populated by Magar people, the main hill tribes of Westen Nepal.

Enjoy the views of Annapuna peaks and check into a nice local lodge, and explore the village farm life.

Day 4: Trek to Kokhe Danda 3,303 m via Bhanthati and Ama Cottage-05 hrs.
Start the first day walk with moning views of Annapuna Himalayan peaks towards north. After a good breakfast, follow the guide heading up to a smallnnsettlement of Bhanthati. Located en route famous Ghorepani, Poon Hill and towards Kokhe Danda our first destination. Avoiding the main trail of Ghorepaninheading left towards absolute mountain wildeness. After a short steep climb fonan hour or less reach a small place with a nice lodge called Ama Cottage. Enjoy a rest and refreshment along with views of surrounding landscapes and snow-capped peaks. Continue walk uphill on stone steps through cool shade ofnrhododendrons and pine forest. Finally the day walks ends on reaching an opennexposed hilltop at Kokhe Danda for lunch and ovenight halt. Enjoy the spectacular panorama of Dhaulagiri, Annapuna and Manaslu Himalayan ranges with majestic Machhapuchare Himal the famed Fish-Tail.nn
Day 5: Morning enjoy the sunrise over Himalayan chain of snow peaks and trek to Bhanthati-2,210 m-05 hrs.

Enjoy the refreshing moning with stunning sunrise over an array of snow-capped mountain ranges. After a delightful cool moning enjoy breakfast withnAnnapuna Himalayas backdrop. Get ready for another phase of the adventurenfollowing the same exciting trail downhill to Bhanthati for an ovenight.

Day 6: Trek to Ghorepani Deurali 2,874 m-04 hrs. Transfer to a lodge.

Todays a short moning walks of few hours to Ghorepani, the trail follows thenmain route. A pleasant walk through lovely cool alpine forest lined withntall rhododendrons, oaks and pine trees. Slowly the altitude gains on winding uphill reaching the main welcome entrance gate of Ghorepani.

From the main entrance, a short steep climb brings you on Ghorepani Deuralinwith fascinating mountain backdrops. Transfer to a nice and cozy lodge for lunch and an ovenight stop. For the rest of the aftenoon at leisure, explore the Poon Magar tribe culture at Ghorepani with views of Dhaulagiri and Annapuna Himalayas.

Day 7: Morning hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tadapani 2,640 m - 06 hrs.
Early moning hike up for an hour to Poon Hill, for stunning sunrise views. The highest point before reaching Annapuna Base Camp, at Poon Hill, is to enjoy the striking sunrise. Including the fabulous panorama of the world’s highestn7th Mt. Dhaulagiri, 8th Manaslu and the 10th Mt. Annapuna. Along with an array of snow peaks and grand views of Mt. Machhapuchare, the famed Fish-Tail Peak. After a fresh moning breathtaking views, walk down to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue the trek. The route leads on altenative trails with slow climbs to Deurali, almost the same height as Poon Hill. Facing tremendous views ofnDhaulagiri and Annapuna Himalayas with majestic Machhapuchare Himal, the famous Fish Tail peak. From Deurali top down to a gorge through beautiful dense rhododendron and pine woods to Bhanthati, a small settlement. Stopping for lunch in one of its many restaurants, aftenoon walk down to a stream. After crossing a small bridge climb for an hour or more to Tadapani, a nice settlement with 5-6 lodges. Enjoy the views of Annapuna Himalayas from Tadapani, located amidst dense forest.
Day 8: Trek to Ghandruk Village 2,012 m - drive to Pokhara (55 km) -06 hrs.

Moning from Tadapani, enjoy the glorious views of Annapuna peaks.
After breakfast the walk heads through serene cool forest with downhill reaching on top of Ghandruk Village. After a short refreshing stop, walk down on stone steps to Ghandruk. A nice Gurung village offers grand views of the Annapuna Himalayas. Enjoy lunch and visit a small Gurung Museum.

Aftenoon board on a vehicle for an exciting drive to Pokhara by the Phewa Lakeside. Rest of the day at leisure for individual activities before dinner in one of its many fancy restaurants.

Day 9: Transfer to Pokhara airport for a scenic flight to Kathmandu.

As time for a short scenic flight to Kathmandu, transfer to Pokhara Airport for a sweeping smooth air jouney. After a grand short adventure around the high hills of Annapuna Himalayas. On reaching Kathmandu airport a short drive back to your hotels, rest of the day at leisure for personal activities.

Day 10: International departure for homeward bound.

Final day in Kathmandu and Nepal, as time for your intenational flight for homeward bound or next port of call. Transfer to Kathmandu, Nepal intenational airport bidding farewell to your guide and staff. After a marvelous adventure and experience to Ghorepani and Poon Hill with Koke Danda trek.

Essential Information

The Best Seasons:


One can enjoy Ghorepani and Poon Hill with Koke Danda Trek nearly all seasons, except for the wet monsoon season from mid-June to August.

 

The best favored seasons are spring and autumn/fall. The spring begins from March to May, most days are longer with sunlight hours.

Normally the morning till mid-afternoon days are clear for views and scenic walks can get overcast late afternoon sometime.

 

Can expect snowfalls, cold mornings and in the nighttime, the mid-hills are covered with tall rhododendron, pine and juniper trees. A lively time with wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendrons of various colors.

 

The next high season is autumn/fall, starts from September and ends in November. Most days are fine with crystal clear blue sky, a pleasant time for scenic walks. Days are shorter due to limited sunlight hours, cold afternoons, and nights till morning time. Expect snowfall sometimes, but with a bright starry night sky. Trekkers can also enjoy during the winter times of December to February. Most days are clear and sunny, but shorter days due to limited sunlight hours. Cold freezing temperatures in the morning, evening, and night time, chances of snowfall also.
